The local newspaper is the KM Sittingbourne Messenger, published by the KM Group.
On 24 February 2010, Ofcom announced that Sittingbourne would get its own local community radio station. SFM plans to launch in mid-2012 to provide a full local radio service for the Sittingbourne area. This has now Launched on 106.9 fm
In December 2011, the East Kent Gazette, the town's other local newspaper, closed down with the loss of 39 jobs, having been the town's local news outlet since 1856.
