Sirikot

Sirikot, The word "Siri-Kot",is composed of two words {1} siri:means-TOP and {2} kot:means-VILLAGE,so in this way the meaning of siri-kot comes out to"VILLAGE at TOP" or "HILLS TOP VILLAGE",and this meaning is also in accordance with on ground physical location of the said village.To further elaborate we can take the example of village "BAZI SIR"situated next to Siri-kot in its southwest direction."Bazi SIR" is also a Mashwani tribe village which is included in the Union Council Kundi.Village "BAZI SIR" is also situated at hills top which location is again indicated by the word "SIR" inbuilt in its name "BAZI SIR".So word siri/sir are locally used in the sense of hill top position. There are so many signs of old civilization found scattered all over the hills top of Sirikot. The mountainous formation of the area is called as Kohi- Gandghar.Cave of Raja Risalu is also found here Sirikot is one of the 44 union councils of Haripur District, in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. It is located at 34°10'60N 73°43'50E in Ghazi Tehsil - Sirikot village is the principle settlement of the Union Council.

To the west of Haripur Tehsil there is another very beautiful and populous village of the Mashwani's known as Gudwalian (Goodvalley), it is located between Haripur city and Sirikot(Ghazi). It is between 12–14 km from Haripur and is the site of a well known Mosque - the "Ali Masjid". A majority of the population of Sirikot and Gudwallian (Goodvalley) is Pashto speaking, commonly known as Mashwani, a Syed Family tribe.
