Sir Alexander Matheson, 3rd Baronet

Sir Alexander Perceval Matheson, 3rd Baronet (6 February 1861 – 7 August 1929) was an English-born Australian politician. Born in Mayfair, London, he was the son of Sir Alexander Matheson, 1st Baronet, a Scottish member of the House of Commons. Educated in England at Harrow School, he migrated to Australia in 1894, becoming a commercial agent and company manager on the goldfields. In 1897, he was elected to the Western Australian Legislative Council for Eastern, serving until 1901. In that year, he was elected to the Australian Senate as a Free Trade Senator for Western Australia. He served until his retirement in 1906. Having returned to England, he succeeded to the baronetcy in 1920, and died in 1929.
