Adam Beck I
Adam Beck I contains 10 generators and first produced power in 1922. It was originally called the Queenston-Chippawa Hydroelectric Plant and was renamed after Adam Beck in 1950 on the twenty fifth anniversary of his death. The water is diverted through the Chippawa-Queenston Power Canal from the Welland River.
As the first large-scale hydroelectric generation project in the world, Adam Beck I was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1990.

Famous quotes containing the words adam and/or beck:
“I wish you would not let him plunge into a ôvortex of
Dissipation.ö I do not object to the Thing, but I cannot bear the
expression; it is such thorough novel slangand so old, that I
dare say Adam met with it in the first novel he opened.”
—Jane Austen (17751817)
“In front of that sinner of a husband,
she rattled off
only those words
that her pack of vile-tongued girlfriends
taught her
as fast as she could,
and after,
began to behave
at the Love-gods beck and call.
Its indescribable,
this natural, charming
path of love,
paved with the gems
of inexperience.”
—Amaru (c. seventh century A.D.)
