Singing Buckeyes

The Singing Buckeyes are a men's Barbershop choir based in Columbus, Ohio. The Columbus, OH Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society and its performing chorus, The Singing Buckeyes, have been in existence since their chartering in 1950. The chapter formed from the Columbus Capitol Chapter, which is still in existence.

The Chapter has produced many members who have held high administrative offices in the International and District levels of the Barbershop Harmony Society. These include Charles "Chuck" Watson, Past International President; George Chamblin, International Vice-president and Jack W. Wentworth, JAD President.

The group is consistently one of the largest chapters in the Johhny Appleseed District of the Barbershop Harmony Society with over 100 members.

The chapter has also produced many JAD District Championship Quartets and in 1994, "Jokers Wild" garnered the coveted title of International Quartet Champions.

The Singing Buckeyes administer the Singing Buckeyes Harmony Camp, a high school 4-day, 3 night camp dedicated to youth education in the Barbershop Craft. The Harmony Camp happens annually in August and has been hosted at The Ohio State University. In 2012, it will be hosted at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio. The camp is open to students who have just completed eighth grade to those who have just completed twelfth.

Famous quotes containing the word singing:

O you singers solitary, singing by yourself, projecting me,
O solitary me listening, never more shall I cease perpetuating you
Never more shall I escape, never more the reverberations,
Never more the cries of unsatisfied love be absent from me,
Never again leave me to be the peaceful child I was before what
    there in the night,
By the sea under the yellow and sagging moon,
The messenger there aroused, the fire, the sweet hell within,
The unknown want, the destiny of me.
    Walt Whitman (1819–1892)
