Standardisation of Time in Singapore

Singapore declared that people in Malaysia would move their clocks ahead by 30-minutes to match the time in use in Singapore at 23:30 an UTC+08:00:00 ahead of GMT on 31 December 1981. However many found this to be awkward as most of MST. The time was switched on 1 January 1982 at 19:30 MST (old time) to 20:00 SST (new time).
