Early Life
Bird was born in Guildford, Surrey, England, one of four sons of Heather (née Gage) and Graham Bird. He comes from a "solidly professional middle-class" family; his parents are Economics professors at the University of Surrey. Bird was educated at Royal Grammar School, Guildford before studying English at Queens' College, Cambridge. He was the President of Cambridge University's sketch group, The Footlights. Bird has three siblings, one of whom, Alan, is the current head of sixth form at Brighton College. He is a well-known Crystal Palace FC fan.
