• In an episode of Will & Grace entitled "Whose Mom Is It, Anyway?," character Will Truman (played by Eric McCormack) calls Grace Adler (played by Debra Messing) Simon Bar Sinister.

Grace: You were supposed to be proving a point to my mother, not selfishly sharing a nice evening with someone. This completely flies in the face of my master plan!

Simon Chardiet, notable guitarist and guest musician with Rancid, has performed in a Rockabilly trio called "Simon & The Bar Sinisters from the 1990s until the present day.

There was also a New York based heavy Metal band called "Simon Bar Sinister" during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Most notable is their heavy rendition of Gordon Lightfoot's "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald."
