Campus Development

SIM announced a plan to expand its Clementi campus at a platform topping up ceremony on October 9, 2009. The SIM Campus Development Master Plan, which will cost $300 million and be completed by 2014, will be implemented in two phases. It will give an additional 56,000 square meters of space, more than doubling the campus size. The first phase was completed in 2011 and work on the second phase commenced in 2012.

As of 2011, there are more than 11,000 students, compared to 8,000 in 2007. This number is expected to grow to 14,000 by 2020. The Singapore's Ministry of Education announced in 2011 that it would increase student tution fee subsidy to 55%. To uphold quality and manage space constraint, the university will roll out more stringent selections of its applicants progressively.

The new campus extension will allow UniSIM to meet the growing demand for places. To support UniSIM's growth in student population, more staff will also be recruited.
