The main sources for Sigurd and his era are the kings' sagas Heimskringla, Fagrskinna, and Morkinskinna. They in turn base their accounts on the now lost Hryggjarstykki, whose author, EirĂ­kr Oddsson, either witnessed the events himself, or spoke to people who had.
