Shyamala Gopinath

Shyamala Gopinath (born 20 June 1949) is the former deputy governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). She holds a Master's degree in commerce, and is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance.

Gopinath joined the RBI as an officer in April 1972, and has worked in different capacities including Executive Director of the RBI from June 2003 until her elevation to the position of the deputy governor of the RBI. She had also served for two years (2001–2003) on deputation to the International Monetary Fund.
