Shenzhen Bay Port

The Shenzhen Bay Port (Chinese: 深圳湾口岸) is an port of entry in the People's Republic of China, on the border with its special administrative region of Hong Kong. It is located geographically in Dongjiaotou, Shekou, which lies on the southwestern corner of the city of Shenzhen in the Guangdong Province. Its Hong Kong counterpart is the Shenzhen Bay Control Point, which is co-located in the same building. The Hong Kong portion of the building, and its adjacent area, are leased to Hong Kong and made under Hong Kong's jurisdiction.

It was commissioned on 1 July 2007, when Hu Jintao, the President of the People's Republic of China, attended the opening ceremony on that day.

Shenzhen Bay Control Point is the first boundary control point with the immigration facilities of the Hong Kong side co-located in the same passenger terminal building with the mainland side. This allows passengers and vehicles for departure and arrival clearance to take place within a short distance.

Famous quotes containing the words bay and/or port:

The very dogs that sullenly bay the moon from farm-yards in these nights excite more heroism in our breasts than all the civil exhortations or war sermons of the age.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

The very best place to be in all the world is St. Mary’s parish, Jamaica. And the best spot in St. Mary’s is Port Maria, though all of St. Mary’s is fine. Old Maker put himself to a lot of trouble to make that part of the island of Jamaica, for everything there is perfect.
    Zora Neale Hurston (1891–1960)
