Shenyang Aerospace University - History

History

Founded in 1952, the university was initially administered by the National Ministry of Aeronautical & Astronautical Industry, and later by the China General Corporation of Aeronautical Industry. Since 1999, SAU has been under the administration of the Liaoning Provincial Government and is the only university owned by the China Industry and Information Technology Ministry and the Liaoning Provincial Government. It is one of the eight universities constructed by the former China National Defence Ministry and local provincial governments. In addition, it is the only university of aeronautical and astronautical engineering in Liaoning Province.

Since its foundation, the university has striven to further its development under the guidance of national education policies. Its ongoing focus on innovation has ensured its status as an organisation making a valued contribution to the enhancement of China's modern construction, especially to the aeronautical and astronautical industry.

On 18 March 2010 the China Ministry of Education approved the name change from Shenyang Institute of Aeronautical Engineering (SYIAE) to Shenyang Aerospace University (SAU).

Famous quotes containing the word history:

The greatest horrors in the history of mankind are not due to the ambition of the Napoleons or the vengeance of the Agamemnons, but to the doctrinaire philosophers. The theories of the sentimentalist Rousseau inspired the integrity of the passionless Robespierre. The cold-blooded calculations of Karl Marx led to the judicial and business-like operations of the Cheka.
    Aleister Crowley (1875–1947)

The whole history of civilisation is strewn with creeds and institutions which were invaluable at first, and deadly afterwards.
    Walter Bagehot (1826–1877)

My good friends, this is the second time in our history that there has come back from Germany to Downing Street peace with honour. I believe it is peace for our time. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. And now I recommend you to go home and sleep quietly in your beds.
    Neville Chamberlain (1869–1940)
