Shelley Madore - Transition

Transition

One day Madore heard a state representative on the radio, justifying his position to cut money from a program to assist children with special needs by saying their families should just budget better for uncovered expenses, like he did to cover sports participation fees for his son. She drove to the State Capitol and met wiih that legislator. The man was unmoved by her story of struggle, mentioning that she was not a constituent from his district, and returned to his seat. Madore told that man she would be back to change things, and the next year she ran for State Representative in District 37A, Apple Valley. When she won in 2006, she was the first Democrat in 30 years to be elected in that district.

Famous quotes containing the word transition:

There is not any present moment that is unconnected with some future one. The life of every man is a continued chain of incidents, each link of which hangs upon the former. The transition from cause to effect, from event to event, is often carried on by secret steps, which our foresight cannot divine, and our sagacity is unable to trace. Evil may at some future period bring forth good; and good may bring forth evil, both equally unexpected.
    Joseph Addison (1672–1719)

When I was going through my transition of being famous, I tried to ask God why was I here? what was my purpose? Surely, it wasn’t just to win three gold medals. There has to be more to this life than that.
    Wilma Rudolph (1940–1994)

Some of the taverns on this road, which were particularly dirty, were plainly in a transition state from the camp to the house.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
