Sheila Kelley (American Actress) - Early Life

Early Life

Kelley was born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, to Catherine Holway Thom Kelley, a registered nurse, and Dr. Jay Hilary Kelley, professor emeritus, School of Mineral and Energy Resources, West Virginia University. Kelley studied ballet at a young age and matriculated into New York University's Tisch School of Arts for further study. After the advice of doctors who were worried about the consequences of the rigorous dance training on her hips, she redirected her studies to film directing and acting. She also studied with Michael Howard. She was encouraged to pursue her passion for acting by her high school principal, Dr. George Vollrath, and ultimately moved to California in order to advance her career.

Famous quotes containing the words early and/or life:

If you are willing to inconvenience yourself in the name of discipline, the battle is half over. Leave Grandma’s early if the children are acting impossible. Depart the ballpark in the sixth inning if you’ve warned the kids and their behavior is still poor. If we do something like this once, our kids will remember it for a long time.
    Fred G. Gosman (20th century)

What is a life or two, Guy! Some people are better off dead. Like your wife and my father, for instance.
    Raymond Chandler (1888–1959)
