Shahbaz Sharif Joins Protest Against Load-shedding

On 5 May 2012, Shahbaz Sharif has said that load-shedding, poverty and unemployment have made the life of the people miserable and it has become difficult for the poor to make both ends meet. He has said democracy is the name of service to the masses but the rulers sitting in Islamabad have made it a source of loot and plunder. In May 2012, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has termed loadshedding in the province a conspiracy hatched by the federation and President Asif Ali Zardari. Punjab Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif Saturday said a visible reduction in loadshedding and complete end to the unscheduled power outages by the Federal government after protests was a clear proof of government's ill intent. On 2 June 2012, Punjab Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif has said that the people now want electricity instead of democracy and therefore he keeps the democratic system sans electricity on his toes. On the other hand many popular figures critisized his work for punjab. According to them he must use the public taxes to solve the electricity blackout problem, instead of starting new projects like Lahore Metro, laptop scheme and danish schools.

Famous quotes containing the words sharif, joins and/or protest:

Making love? It’s a communion with a woman. The bed is the holy table. There I find passion—and purification.
    —Omar Sharif (b. 1932)

One joins the movement in a valueless world,
Choosing it, till both hurler and the hurled,
One moves as well, always toward, toward.
    Thom Gunn (b. 1929)

The habit some writers indulge in of perpetual quotation is one it behoves lovers of good literature to protest against, for it is an insidious habit which in the end must cloud the stream of thought, or at least check spontaneity. If it be true that le style c’est l’homme, what is likely to happen if l’homme is for ever eking out his own personality with that of some other individual?
    Dame Ethel Smyth (1858–1944)
