Shadowville Productions - History

History

Founded in August 2004 by Carnegie Mellon University alumnus and current New York University music business student Billy Li, Shadowville Productions is known to have been the pioneers of instrumental licensing via internet. The production company was incorporated in September 2006 as Shadowville Inc. and is recognized for introducing the concept of selling beat licenses to amateurs through the medium of the World Wide Web. Originally operating on music community websites such as Soundclick, they have expanded to their own official website in June 2006 and have grown to work with record labels and companies.

Shadowville Productions supplied free instrumentals back in 2004 through various independent music websites. The production team gained some recognition through the internet, primarily Soundclick, with its instrumentation. Due to the widespread popularity, Shadowville eventually began to explore the licensing of its music through the internet.

As the pioneers of online beat licensing, the production team grew in recognition and financial status, eventually incorporating under Shadowville Inc. in 2006. The company has licensed beats to many large corporations such as ClubJenna (owned by Playboy Enterprises) and Fox Sports Net, and to well known artists such as Kurupt, South Park Mexican, Dead Prez, Tech N9ne, and Brokencyde.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

They are a sort of post-house,where the Fates
Change horses, making history change its tune,
Then spur away o’er empires and o’er states,
Leaving at last not much besides chronology,
    Excepting the post-obits of theology.
    George Gordon Noel Byron (1788–1824)

There is one great fact, characteristic of this our nineteenth century, a fact which no party dares deny. On the one hand, there have started into life industrial and scientific forces which no epoch of former human history had ever suspected. On the other hand, there exist symptoms of decay, far surpassing the horrors recorded of the latter times of the Roman empire. In our days everything seems pregnant with its contrary.
    Karl Marx (1818–1883)

The history of philosophy is to a great extent that of a certain clash of human temperaments.
    William James (1842–1910)
