Sexton Blake (band)

Sexton Blake (band)

Sexton Blake is a band based in Portland, Oregon. They are signed to the independent record label Expunged Records. Fronted by singer-guitarist Josh Hodges, other instruments include keyboard, drums, and bass. They were featured on the album to: Elliott, from: Portland, a tribute album to Portland singer-songwriter Elliott Smith, performing the song "Rose Parade". The Washington Post described Sexton Blake's version as "faithful to the original's fragile aesthetic, if not exact sound." Their full-length, self-titled album was recorded in New York City, by Josh Hodges, who then moved to Portland and started the band by the same name. Their second album, Plays the Hits!, was released in July 2007. The album consists entirely of cover songs from the 1980s, an idea that was first proposed to Hodges by Expunged Records founder Anthony Davis. The mastermind behind the band, Josh Hodges, is also in the Portland band Starfucker along with Ryan Bjornstad. Starfucker has released four full albums also with Polyvinyl Record.
