Anorexia
Anorexia, as it relates to the area of sex and love addiction is defined as the compulsive avoidance of giving or receiving social, sexual or emotional nourishment. Anorexia can be extremely hard to detect. While Sex and Love addicts act "out" on their bottom line behaviors (such as engaging in a sexual encounter) anorectics act "in" by refusing to act. Like all addiction anorexia does not spring from a source of weakness. It comes from an insatiable, primal drive. It is 'self-will run riot'. Anorexia consists of not doing something, and not doing something, and NOT doing something. While sex and love addicts overtly hurt themselves in ways that can be obviously seen, such as destroying a marriage by cheating on a spouse, anorectics hurt themselves by refusing to do those things which are healthy; mentally, physically and spiritually. Anorexia can even appear as recovery. Many sexual anorectics believe they have actually been cured of the addiction only to find later that the disease has worsened and progressed in unexpected ways.
