Serpentine Endemism and Bioremediation
The unique plants that survive in serpentine soils have been used in the process of phytoremediation. As those plants developed specialized processes to exist in a metal-saturated environment, the process (also known as bioremediation) utilizes them to treat environmental problems by consuming those minerals from polluted soil.
