The top finish for Serbia and Montenegro in Athletics was a 6th place in the Women's marathon from Olivera Jevtić. Jevtić stayed with the leading group through 30 kilometres, but when the medalists headed off the front of the pack, she was unable to match them, ending up around four minutes back. The only other top-10 performance came from Dragutin Topić, who set a season's best in qualifying for the men's high jump final.
