Casey Powell, founder and CEO, said in an April 2011 LinkedIn Discussion about how these values came about: “Why are you here?” was the question I asked of every member of the founding team. From that, the list of Corporate Objectives was created. It was within this set of Corporate Objectives that the phrase “Easy To Do Business With” first appeared. Values, Objectives and Practices is an excerpt from the definition of Corporate Culture, and while fundamental to what we had at Sequent, it was a “necessary but not sufficient” part of what made Sequent what it was. It was all of the processes we used to build our company that made it what it was. The “values” were important, but so was the way we organized our teams, made decisions and “institutionalized” the way we did things, based on our Culture, that made Sequent what it was.

Famous quotes containing the words culture and, culture and/or values:

With respect to a true culture and manhood, we are essentially provincial still, not metropolitan,—mere Jonathans. We are provincial, because we do not find at home our standards; because we do not worship truth, but the reflection of truth; because we are warped and narrowed by an exclusive devotion to trade and commerce and manufacturers and agriculture and the like, which are but means, and not the end.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

If you’re anxious for to shine in the high esthetic line as a man
    of culture rare,
You must get up all the germs of the transcendental terms, and plant
    them everywhere.
You must lie upon the daisies and discourse in novel phrases of your
    complicated state of mind,
The meaning doesn’t matter if it’s only idle chatter of a
    transcendental kind.
    Sir William Schwenck Gilbert (1836–1911)

Parents ought, through their own behavior and the values by which they live, to provide direction for their children. But they need to rid themselves of the idea that there are surefire methods which, when well applied, will produce certain predictable results. Whatever we do with and for our children ought to flow from our understanding of and our feelings for the particular situation and the relation we wish to exist between us and our child.
    Bruno Bettelheim (20th century)
