The Seldom Seen Roadhouse (37°07′S 148°15′E / 37.117°S 148.25°E / -37.117; 148.25 (Seldom Seen Roadhouse (Victoria))Coordinates: 37°07′S 148°15′E / 37.117°S 148.25°E / -37.117; 148.25 (Seldom Seen Roadhouse (Victoria))) is located near Wulgulmerang in the Shire of East Gippsland, in the north-east of Victoria, Australia.
It is a remote locality in the Victorian, close to the Snowy River (pictured here at McKillop's Bridge near Seldom Seen Roadhouse) on an unpaved or unsealed road between the Alpine National Park and the Snowy River National Park.
The area, including the roadhouse and the nearby settlements of Wulgulmerang, Gelantipy, and Suggan Buggan, in Victoria; and Black Mountain in New South Wales were burnt out in the 2003 Eastern Victorian alpine bushfires.
Before the bushfires, Seldom Seen Roadhouse was a fairly typical 1960s-era petrol station.
The roadhouse at Seldom Seen was trading in March 2005 from a caravan, and now has a more permanent structure.
Famous quotes containing the word seldom:
“No extraordinary gaze,
Such as is bent on sunlike majesty
When it shines seldom in admiring eyes.”
—William Shakespeare (15641616)
