As A Coach
Simpson was head coach of DEL side Munich Barons from 1999 through 2002. He was Hamburg Freezers head coach for 2002–3. He then coached EV Zug in the Swiss National League A until 2008 when he became coach of ZSC Lions, with whom he won the Champions Hockey League in 2009. Since 2010 he has been the head coach of the Swiss national ice hockey team.
