Sea Slice

HSV Sea Slice is an experimental United States Navy vessel, built by Lockheed Martin. Based on a variant of the SWATH hull design, known as "SLICE," the Sea Slice is characterized by four teardrop-shaped submerged hulls—double the number seen on most previous designs. According to the US Navy, the design reduces waves and drag, which allows a SWATH vessel to "...operate at higher speeds while retaining their characteristic low motions in a seaway". Designed for operation in the same area as, and mount similar armament to, a LCS-type corvette, current weapon options include the Millennium Gun and the NetFires System, intended to launch Lockheed's (now cancelled) Loitering Attack Munition.

Famous quotes containing the words sea and/or slice:

They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters, these see the works of the Lord and his wonders in the deep.
    Bible: Hebrew Psalms 107:23-24.

The places we have known do not only belong to the world of space in which we situate them for the sake of simplicity. They were but a thin slice between contiguous impression which formed our lives back then; the memory of a certain image is but the regret of a certain instant; and the houses, the roads, the avenues are fleeting, alas! as the years.
    Marcel Proust (1871–1922)
