Screaming Viking - Production

Production

When Shelley Long decided to leave the show in the previous season, the creators decided to seek a new female lead, who was unknown to television viewers, would not have blonde hair, and did not resemble Long. Kirstie Alley was one of the first actresses to audition for the role of Rebecca Howe. Although she met all the criteria, the producers continued to audition actresses, but none improved on Alley's portrayal of the character. As a result, brunette Alley debuted as Rebecca Howe. James Burrows told People magazine, "We thought of the part as a martinet, a bitch. Then we met and there was this vulnerability, so we made her the neurotic woman of the 1980s."

Famous quotes containing the word production:

In the production of the necessaries of life Nature is ready enough to assist man.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

It is part of the educator’s responsibility to see equally to two things: First, that the problem grows out of the conditions of the experience being had in the present, and that it is within the range of the capacity of students; and, secondly, that it is such that it arouses in the learner an active quest for information and for production of new ideas. The new facts and new ideas thus obtained become the ground for further experiences in which new problems are presented.
    John Dewey (1859–1952)

The production of obscurity in Paris compares to the production of motor cars in Detroit in the great period of American industry.
    Ernest Gellner (b. 1925)
