Scott Frear - Sudden Resignation

Sudden Resignation

Frear was hired at Saint Mary in December 2001, and after his first season at the school he was named Coach of the Year by the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference. Saint Mary was his first head-coaching job in the college ranks.

Frear suddenly resigned on the morning of August 16, 2005 when the university was made aware that federal authorities were investigating Frear on charges of child pornography. He was later indicted by a federal grand jury on child pornography charges and would eventually plead guilty to those charges. Of the potential 5 to 20 years in prison faced, he was sentenced for 13 years.

Famous quotes containing the words sudden and/or resignation:

Loss of freedom seldom happens overnight. Oppression doesn’t stand on the doorstep with toothbrush moustache and swastika armband—it creeps up insidiously ... step by step, and all of a sudden the unfortunate citizen realises that it is gone.
    Baron Lane (b. 1918)

Resignation, not mystic, not detached, but resignation open- eyed, conscious, and informed by love, is the only one of our feelings for which it is impossible to become a sham.
    Joseph Conrad (1857–1924)
