Scholarships For Kids

Scholarships for Kids is a UK charity (reg. no. 280365) that provides educational scholarships to primary and secondary school children in the poorest communities in Kenya.

Working in partnership with KISA, the Kenyan Independent Schools Association, Scholarships for Kids identifies children of high aptitude with resources so limited that they constitute a barrier to education. These students are then provided with scholarships enabling them to overcome these barriers and to attend a KISA-affiliated school. Although the Kenyan government is committed to education for all, and is attempting to provide that education freely, independent schools are the only viable option for many living in those areas under-provided-for by the Kenyan government, for example the informal settlements around Nairobi.

Famous quotes containing the word kids:

Mighty few young black women are doin’ domestic work. And I’m glad. That’s why I want my kids to go to school. This one lady told me, “All you people are gettin’ like that.” I said, “I’m glad.” There’s no more gettin’ on their knees.
Maggie Holmes, African American domestic worker. As quoted in Working, book 3, by Studs Terkel (1973)
