Schoharie Scary Horror Film Fest - Film Fest

Film Fest

As an exhibition component of the emerging digital video culture in the Upper Catskills, the Schoharie Scary avidly encourages independent, low budget, digital filmmaking that pushes the boundaries of the creative imagination while instilling new dimensions of fear in the souls of horror fans everywhere.

SSHFF strives to present the widest and wildest range of expression encompassed by the horror genre. Film programs include psychological horror and suspense thrillers, gothic, fantasy, the supernatural, environmental horrors, zombie encounters, maniacal slasher tales, horror spoofs, deranged dark comedies, and in-your-face gore fests. And of course we’re always delighted to find a new twist from the realm of some as yet unknown filmmaker’s demented imagination.

The upcoming Meet the Filmmakers series brings together public and artists for informal discussion and Q&A sessions about the process of filmmaking, from inspiration through final cut. We are also planning a 48-hour horror film workshop, where participants will produce a short horror film from script to screen in just two days. Please continue to check back with us for festival news and updates.

The Schoharie Scary Horror Film Fest is produced in association with the Tri County Arts Council, a New York state non-profit, multi-arts organization that emphasizes the visual and performing arts.

Proceeds from the festival provide funding for the continuing development of digital filmmaking culture in the Upper Catskills, as well as assist in the development of independent short and feature film projects from emerging artists around the world.

Famous quotes containing the word film:

Perhaps our eyes are merely a blank film which is taken from us after our deaths to be developed elsewhere and screened as our life story in some infernal cinema or despatched as microfilm into the sidereal void.
    Jean Baudrillard (b. 1929)
