Scarborough Centre (TTC) - Subway Extension

Subway Extension

The Toronto Transit Commission had planned to extend the Sheppard line south-east from its current terminus at Don Mills to Scarborough Centre. The 190 Rocket Express bus currently links the two stations, making limited stops along Sheppard Avenue. In March 2007, however, the TTC dropped this plan when it announced its Transit City proposal to build the Sheppard East LRT Line.

The station will eventually be part of the Eglinton–Scarborough Crosstown line. The upgrade and replacement of the Scarborough RT portion is scheduled to start in late 2015, after the conclusion of the 2015 Pan American Games and the 2015 Parapan American Games. Scarborough RT riders will be bussed for three years until the upgrade is completed.

Famous quotes containing the words subway and/or extension:

In New York—whose subway trains in particular have been “tattooed” with a brio and an energy to put our own rude practitioners to shame—not an inch of free space is spared except that of advertisements.... Even the most chronically dispossessed appear prepared to endorse the legitimacy of the “haves.”
Gilbert Adair, British author, critic. “Cleaning and Cleansing,” Myths and Memories (1986)

We know then the existence and nature of the finite, because we also are finite and have extension. We know the existence of the infinite and are ignorant of its nature, because it has extension like us, but not limits like us. But we know neither the existence nor the nature of God, because he has neither extension nor limits.
    Blaise Pascal (1623–1662)
