Saxa (musician)

Saxa (born Lionel Augustus Martin January 5, 1930) is a saxophonist famous for having performed with the British ska band The Beat. He has also played with many early reggae stars such as Laurel Aitken, Prince Buster, and Desmond Dekker.

He was born in Croft's Hill, Jamaica.

From 1990 to 1995, Saxa played in The International Beat with musicians Tony Beet, Everett Morton and Mickey Billingham.

He is now retired and lives in Birmingham.
