Sanyal

Sanyal (Bengali: সান্যাল Sanyal)is a Bengali surname, common among residents of the Indian state of West Bengal and Bangladesh. According to the Indian caste system, Sanyals belong to the Kulin Brahmin group and along with Bāgchi, Kāhāli, Chākrāborty (Chākrāvārti), Lāhiri, Māitra, Bhāduri etc. constitute the uppermost strata of the Bengali Brahmin caste. Sanyals belonged to the Barendra Section of Bengali Brahmins. Barendra Bramhins originally hail from Varendra/Barendra region (NE Bengal)
