Sanjay Vadera - Early Years

Early Years

Sanjay Vadera came to England in 1972 when he was 5 years old as a refugee from Uganda, to escape the regime of dictator Idi Amin. Vadera and his family had a good lifestyle in Uganda but had to leave their valuables behind and arrived in Britain with nothing. He grew up in Bolton with his family and went to Manchester Polytechnic to study computer science and physics. During his time at university he had the opportunity to open a fragrance concession and began to source fragrances such as Hugo Boss and Dolce & Gabbana. From there he formed his fragrance company Per-Scent and Sanjay won his first contract with Superdrug which really launched the business.

Famous quotes related to early years:

I believe that if we are to survive as a planet, we must teach this next generation to handle their own conflicts assertively and nonviolently. If in their early years our children learn to listen to all sides of the story, use their heads and then their mouths, and come up with a plan and share, then, when they become our leaders, and some of them will, they will have the tools to handle global problems and conflict.
    Barbara Coloroso (20th century)
