Famous quotes containing the word work:

We know that a man can read Goethe or Rilke in the evening, that he can play Bach and Schubert, and go to his day’s work at Auschwitz in the morning.
    George Steiner (b. 1929)

Let’s holler and ask him if he won’t prescribe
For all humanity a complete rest
From all this wagery. But what’s the use
Of asking any sympathy of him?
That class of people don’t know what work is....
    Robert Frost (1874–1963)

Every great work of art has two faces, one toward its own time and one toward the future, toward eternity.
