Poaching
Sanjay Gandhi national park has played home to many poachers in the recent years. Usually, leopards are being attacked. In many cases these animals had been poisoned, and claws or other valuable body parts were cut off and sold. The largely inefficient and corrupt system has not done anything to prevent these things and this trend is increasing at a very dangerous pace and could soon wipe out Mumbai's leopard population. Three cases have been reported in 2012 so far:
1. 23 January:decomposed carcass of leopard found near Vasai.
2. 19 March:carcass of 8 year old leopard found in Palghar.
3. 15 April:carcass of 8 year old leopard found near Yeoor.
