'Sang Linggo N APO Sila - Success and Downfall

Success and Downfall

Sang Linggo nAPO Sila garnered high ratings from the start of its airing but it was not able to overtake Eat Bulaga! permanently, but it did gain popularity in regions where GMA's signals were weak and ABS-CBN's signals were stronger. The show also introduced many new talents to television, but Eat Bulaga! still stayed on top. The downfall of APO was blamed on the humor being "too intelligent for the average Filipino". The show was later canceled in 1998, while co-hosts Randy Santiago, John Estrada and Willie Revillame went on to become the hosts of the show's replacement: Magandang Tanghali Bayan.

Famous quotes containing the words success and/or downfall:

I feel that you will not only be the making of my happiness, but also of my fortunes or success in life. The truth is I never did half try to be anything, or do anything. There was no motive ... and so I have lived, not an idle, but a useless sort of life. Hereafter I hope all that will be quite changed.... I shall have purpose and steadiness to keep ever doing, looking to your happiness and approval as my best reward.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)

Show me one thing here on earth which has begun well and not ended badly. The proudest palpitations are engulfed in a sewer, where they cease throbbing, as though having reached their natural term: this downfall constitutes the heart’s drama and the negative meaning of history.
    E.M. Cioran (b. 1911)
