Sandhills Community College - University Studies Program

University Studies Program

Sandhills Community College was the first comprehensive community college in North Carolina to offer a college transfer degree. Students are prepared for transfer to four-year colleges and universities through the University Studies Program.

The University Studies Program is designed for students to earn the Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, or Associate in Fine Arts degree and then continue their education as juniors at a university. Students who complete the Associate in Arts or Associate in Science Core Diploma before transferring to the UNC System will have satisfied the general education requirements of the transfer institution. Sandhills also offers Associate in Applied Science degrees that will transfer into university-designated baccalaureate degree programs. On the Sandhills campus, students can also earn selected B.A., B.S., and M.A. degrees from two universities.

All instructors in the Sandhills University Studies Program hold at least a Master’s Degree.

Famous quotes containing the words university, studies and/or program:

One can describe a landscape in many different words and sentences, but one would not normally cut up a picture of a landscape and rearrange it in different patterns in order to describe it in different ways. Because a photograph is not composed of discrete units strung out in a linear row of meaningful pieces, we do not understand it by looking at one element after another in a set sequence. The photograph is understood in one act of seeing; it is perceived in a gestalt.
Joshua Meyrowitz, U.S. educator, media critic. “The Blurring of Public and Private Behaviors,” No Sense of Place: The Impact of Electronic Media on Social Behavior, Oxford University Press (1985)

These studies which stimulate the young, divert the old, are an ornament in prosperity and a refuge and comfort in adversity; they delight us at home, are no impediment in public life, keep us company at night, in our travels, and whenever we retire to the country.
    Marcus Tullius Cicero (106–43 B.C.)

Adjoining a refreshment stand ... is a small frame ice house ... with a whitewashed advertisement on its brown front stating, simply, “Ice. Glory to Jesus.” The proprietor of the establishment is a religious man who has seized the opportunity to broadcast his business and his faith at the same time.
