San Diego Padres Minor League Players - Everett Williams

Everett Eugene Williams (born October 1, 1990, in Austin, Texas) is an American professional baseball left fielder in the San Diego Padres organization. Williams was selected by the Padres in the 2nd round (52nd pick Overall) of the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft. He stands at 5 feet 10 inches and weighs 200 lbs.

Under coach Russell Houston at McCallum High School in Austin Williams hit .462 with six home runs, 34 RBI and 27 stolen bases in 2009. The left-handed hitter was named an Aflac All-American in 2008. Williams tallied 36 home runs, 173 RBI and 73 stolen bases over his high school career, hitting over .400 each season.

Although being made offers to attend various colleges such as hometown University of Texas at Austin to join fellow McCallum Knight Kevin Lusson, Williams opted to enter in the MLB Draft after his senior year of high school.

Williams was drafted in the second round of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft by the San Diego Padres. Although Williams had predominantly played all outfield positions, the Padres drafted him as an left fielder.

After batting .389 with a .421 OBP for the Padres' in the Arizona League, Williams was selected to participate for the Northwest League as a member of the Eugene Emeralds (Short Season A ball) for the rest of the 2009 season. While with Eugene he batted .200 with 7 hits, 1 home run, and 3 RBI's in 6 games.

After 2010 spring training, the Padres optioned Williams to Class-A Fort Wayne to begin his minor league career. In 107 games, Williams hit .244, collecting 95 hits, 25 doubles and 59 RBI.

Everett now plays for the Lake Elsinore Storm (Class A Advanced)
