Salisbury City Council

Salisbury City Council is a parish council, currently led by the Liberal Democrats.

It came into existence in April 2009 to serve the city of Salisbury, Wiltshire, as part of the 2009 structural changes to local government in England, although its first elections were not held until June 2009. The city council is based in the city's historic Guildhall, following the adaptation of the building. In the interim it had its offices and meetings at 22 Bedwin Street, Salisbury.

Famous quotes containing the words city and/or council:

    I counted two and seventy stenches,
    All well defined and several stinks!
    Ye Nymphs that reign o’er sewers and sinks,
    The river Rhine, it is well known,
    Doth wash your city of Cologne;
    But tell me, Nymphs! what power divine
    Shall henceforth wash the river Rhine?
    Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1772–1834)

    Parental attitudes have greater correlation with pupil achievement than material home circumstances or variations in school and classroom organization, instructional materials, and particular teaching practices.
