Famous quotes containing the words saint, vincent and/or college:

O my God, what must a soul be like when it is in this state! It longs to be all one tongue with which to praise the Lord. It utters a thousand pious follies, in a continuous endeavor to please Him who thus possesses it.
    Teresa Of Avila, Saint (1515–1582)

Earth does not understand her child,
Who from the loud gregarious town
    Returns, depleted and defiled,
To the still woods, to fling him down.
    —Edna St. Vincent Millay (1892–1950)

It is true enough, Cambridge college is really beginning to wake up and redeem its character and overtake the age.
