Life and Career

Saeed Ahmad Nagra attended Qau where he received his B.Sc in Chemistry in 1972. Later on, Nagra obtained his masters degree in Chemistry from Quaid-e-Azam University in 1974, and Ph.D in Nutrition from University of Agriculture, Faisalabad in 1979.

As DAAD fellow he worked at Federal Research Centre for Nutrition in Germany. He joined the Institute of Chemistry as lecturer in Biochemistry in 1982 and elevated to the designation of Professor of Biochemistry in 2001. He holds more than 100 research papers to his credit published in national and international journals. He has written chapters in Allama Iqbal Open University and Urdu Science Board publications.

He was elected as fellow of Pakistan Academy of Medical Sciences in 1999. The University of the Punjab awarded him the Best Teacher Award for the year 2001. His field of interest is biomedical research, nutritional surveillance, trace elements in health and disease and infant nutrition.

He is also Fellow Chemical Society of Pakistan, Secretary PU Journal of Science and had been working as Chairman Hall Council from January 2008 to March 2009. Dr. Nagra has also won the president ASA election for year 2009. Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association has elected him as president of FAPUASA for Punjab province.
