He founded several entrepreneurial companies. At IBM Watson, he received 7 Invention Achievement Award, Outstanding Innovation Award, for the world fastest oscilloscope (picosecond speed), and Invention of the Year and Award for inventing the Quiteron, a superconducting transistor. The New York Intellectual Property Law Association named him 2009 Inventor of the Year.

He is well known for his contributions to the fields normal and Josephson quantum mechanical tunneling, superconductivity and superconducting electronics (founded HYPRES, www.hypres.com), nano-technology, cholesteric liquid crystal materials and applications, optics and electro-optics, energy, water desalination, 3D stereoscopic imaging. His innovations in batteries and metal air fuel cells used in advanced advance electric transportation, established Guinness World Records for range. He invented the micro-polarizer, micro-pol, concept www.vrex.com that is currently gaining market share for high end 3D televisions, also marketed under the name XPol, manufactured by Arisawa Manufacturing Ltd., that is integrated in 3D TV by many manufacturers, including Panasonic, LG; JVC, Hyundai Display etc.
