Sacred Heart High School (Pennsylvania) - Final Year

Final Year

The 2004-2005 school year was the last operating year for Sacred Heart Intermediate and Sacred Heart High. The newly enstated Bishop Martino decided to close grades 9–12 due to a massive debt and low enrollment. Despite a campaign run by the school which raised the entire $250,000 debt in pledges in a mere two weeks, the bishop's decision remained final, and the school closed in June 2005. The last graduation ceremony was held in St. Rose of Lime Church and graduated 23 students. Grades 4–8 were relocated to Sacred Heart Elementary (Carbondale).

Famous quotes containing the words final and/or year:

A poem is like a person. Though it has a family tree, it is important not because of its ancestors but because of its individuality. The poem, like any human being, is something more than its most complete analysis. Like any human being, it gives a sense of unified individuality which no summary of its qualities can reproduce; and at the same time a sense of variety which is beyond satisfactory final analysis.
    Donald Stauffer (b. 1930)

We have good reason to believe that memories of early childhood do not persist in consciousness because of the absence or fragmentary character of language covering this period. Words serve as fixatives for mental images. . . . Even at the end of the second year of life when word tags exist for a number of objects in the child’s life, these words are discrete and do not yet bind together the parts of an experience or organize them in a way that can produce a coherent memory.
    Selma H. Fraiberg (20th century)
