S. S. Huebner Foundation For Insurance Education - History

History

The first 25 years after World War II saw rapid growth in the insurance industry (especially life insurance) and the demand for teachers during that time outstripped supply. Executives from the life insurance industry identified the need for more trained insurance professors and created the Foundation in 1941 to meet the shortage, support new research, publish studies in the field and increase the number of insurance economics textbooks while honoring Wharton professor, Dr. Solomon S. Huebner. The Huebner Foundation was incorporated as a Nonprofit Corporation in 1954. The Foundation is supported with contributions from insurance companies, foundations, and program alumni.
