In 1907 Auld sold his whistle making tools, patents, stamps & stock to J Hudson & Co. He also sold Hudson the right to use the name "S Auld" on whistles. He was the last maker in a chain of purchases that Hudson made over a period of 10 years.
Auld was one of the four Glasgow whistle makers active at that time the others being Black & Co., P McDonalds & J Stevens & Sons.
