Russell Branyan - Long Home Runs at New Yankee Stadium

Long Home Runs At New Yankee Stadium

Branyan has also gained recognition for hitting two of the longest home runs at the New Yankee Stadium. The first came in 2009, when he hit a home run off of the restaurant suite in center field. In 2010, he hit a shot into the right field upper deck off of Javier Vazquez. Thus far, he is the only player to accomplish these two feats in official game play.

Famous quotes containing the words long, home, runs, yankee and/or stadium:

    I am pleased to think of Channing as an inhabitant of the gray town. Seven cities contended for Homer dead. Tell him to remain at least long enough to establish Concord’s right and interest in him.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

    That, of course, was the thing about the fifties with all their patina of familial bliss: A lot of the memories were not happy, not mine, not my friends’. That’s probably why the myth so endures, because of the dissonance in our lives between what actually went on at home and what went on up there on those TV screens where we were allegedly seeing ourselves reflected back.
    Anne Taylor Fleming (20th century)

    The roaring alongside he takes for granted,
    and that every so often the world is bound to shake.
    He runs, he runs to the south, finical, awkward,
    in a state of controlled panic, a student of Blake.
    Elizabeth Bishop (1911–1979)

    I’m a Yankee Doodle Dandy,
    A Yankee Doodle do or die;
    A real live nephew of my Uncle Sam’s,
    Born on the fourth of July.
    George M. Cohan (1878–1942)

    It’s no accident that of all the monuments left of the Greco- Roman culture the biggest is the ballpark, the Colosseum, the Yankee Stadium of ancient times.
    Walter Wellesley (Red)
