Famous quotes containing the words the wind, running and/or wind:

    O, there’s a wind a-blowing, a-blowing from the west,
And that of all the winds is the one I like the best,
For it blows at our backs, and it shakes our pennon free,
And it soon will blow us home to the old countrie.
    William Ernest Henley (1849–1903)

    Kicking the heart
with pain’s big boots running up and down
the intestines like a motorcycle racer.
    Anne Sexton (1928–1974)

The wind attendant on the solstices
Blows on the shutters of the metropoles,
Stirring no poet in his sleep, and tolls
The trand ideas of the villages.
The malady of the quotidian. . . .
    Wallace Stevens (1879–1955)
