Rugby Union in Qatar - Governing Body

Governing Body

The governing body for rugby in the Arab states of the Persian Gulf, until 2010, is the Arabian Gulf RFU, whose headquarters are located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The AGRFU was founded in 1977, and joined the IRB in 1990.

At the end of 2010, the AGRFU was broken up, with new unions to be established in each member country, as announced in January 2009 by the IRB. The first national union to be formed from the AGRFU is expected to be that of the UAE. The AGRFU's representative team played its final Test match in May 2010.

Famous quotes containing the words governing and/or body:

In making the great experiment of governing people by consent rather than by coercion, it is not sufficient that the party in power should have a majority. It is just as necessary that the party in power should never outrage the minority.
    Walter Lippmann (1889–1974)

With my whole body I taste these peaches,
I touch them and smell them. Who speaks?
I absorb them as the Angevine
Absorbs Anjou. I see them as a lover sees,
As a young lover sees the first buds of spring
And as the black Spaniard plays his guitar.
    Wallace Stevens (1879–1955)
