Royal Thai Air Force Bases - End of War

End of War

The end of the war resulted in all US personnel and equipment being removed by 1976 by Thai request. The Royal Thai Air Force found it too costly to operate any but Khorat and Takhli, but so far, the runways of the others may still be usable. These 3000 meter runways are visible from space on Google Earth.

Famous quotes containing the word war:

When they are not at war they do a little hunting, but spend most of their time in idleness, sleeping and eating. The strongest and most warlike do nothing. They vegetate, while the care of hearth and home and fields is left to the women, the old and the weak. Strange inconsistency of temperament, which makes the same men lovers of sloth and haters of tranquility.
    Tacitus (c. 55–c. 120)
