Rosicrucian Park

Rosicrucian Park is the headquarters of the English Grand Lodge for the Americas of AMORC, located in San Jose, California. The park takes up nearly an entire city block and includes the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum, the administration building for the Order, the Rosicrucian Planetarium, the Rosicrucian Peace Garden, the Rosicrucian Research Library, the Grand Temple, and a central fountain plaza and gardens. With the exception of the planetarium, all buildings in Rosicrucian Park were constructed with Ancient Egyptian-revival exteriors. The park also includes the Akhenaten Shrine, which contains the ashes of AMORC founder Harvey Spencer Lewis and other former officials of the order. The latest addition to the Park was the Peace Garden, dedicated in 2004 by Rosicrucian Imperator Christian Bernard. In tribute to their namesake, a rose garden is incorporated in the Park next to the Research Library. In tribute to their claimed Egyptian heritage, cyperus papyrus plants are also incorporated into the landscaping.

Famous quotes containing the word park:

Linnæus, setting out for Lapland, surveys his “comb” and “spare shirt,” “leathern breeches” and “gauze cap to keep off gnats,” with as much complacency as Bonaparte a park of artillery for the Russian campaign. The quiet bravery of the man is admirable.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
